How will the Finlay Cowan Fantasy Art School work?

When you sign up you will receive a DVD from me every two weeks. Each DVD will have a one hour lesson, filmed in my studio in Italy. This 'over-the-shoulder' method will take you gently but firmly through the progressive steps that can turn you into a true fantasy artist. Each tutorial will also include a short film about myth and legend or how to get inspired and carry out research with information on great artists, writers and mythographers to look out for.

We will begin with confidence-building simple steps to begin to master our tools and advance through all the techniques required for drawing, painting and digital so you can begin to see results straight away.

By the end of Year One you will own a permanent course in the form of 24 one hour long DVDs. The course will grow to include three years in total.

What subjects will the course cover?

The course will cover all the aspects of drawing and designing fantasy worlds and characters through a series of in-depth QuickTime movies created and narrated by Finlay Cowan. There is always something new to learn and the advantage of using QuickTime movies on DVD allows you to see exactly how things are done - right down to the last detail. In addition, there will be special guest lessons from other established fantasy artists from around the world.
